  • Jazz Music WorkshopJazz Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago (JATT)'s Summer Holistic Jazz Workshop.
  • Designed to explore scales, chords, rhythms, blues, spirituals, gospel, chorale, opera and calypso, the workshop will allow students to study, interact and jam with the finest local and regional jazz musicians.
  • Invited lecturers include Trinidadian mezzo-sopranist Anne Fridal, Chalkdust, Leroy Clarke, Denise Demming, Arturo Tappin, Clive Zanda, Mungal Patasar and 2006 National Trumpet Competition winner Etienne Charles.
  • Additionally there will be a concert entitled “Common Wealth of Sounds” scheduled for August 16, featuring local and regional musicians.
  • Featured musicians include tenor and soprano saxophonist Luther Francois; Sean Thomas; Arturo Tappin; Etienne Charles; Clive Zanda; Douglas Reddon; Dave Marcellin and Samantha Gooden.

  • Bible Camp entitle "Camp Glorious"Youth for Christ T&T (YFC), under its Heartline Community Outreach Programme
    Ages: 5 to 18 years old

  • Time: 9am to 1pm
  • Camp Glorious is a nationwide venture, as YFC boldly strives to transform as many communities as possible. This year, 65 camps (57 in Trinidad and eight in Tobago)
  • The aim of the programme is to equip children and youth with the knowledge of God, while paying attention to their academic and all-round development.
  • Camp Glorious is staffed with volunteers from all around the country, ranging from young to old, who provide much needed love and attention to the young participants.
  • The release stated that the programme is carefully planned with a new lesson each day to help children cope with the stresses of life.
  • This is a fun, interactive session where poems, monologues or skits accompany the lesson in order to bring to life the issues being discussed.
  • In addition, YFC also provides academic support in the form of worksheets in Mathematics and English, recognising the advanced individuals and those who need special attention.
  • After much learning, children must have fun, therefore the latter part of the day is spent engaged in games and sporting activities, such as cricket and football.
  • After refreshments are provided, the children are not only engaged in sports but also have the opportunity to produce something creative in the arts and craft session.

  • This year there will be a strong focus on the basics of drama, dance, theatre and arts, and the soca artistes and sports stars will be on hand in the afternoons to share their tips for success with the youth.
